(Sharecast News) - Windar Photonics announced Windar Nexus, a wind energy sector software platform, on Thursday.
The AIM-traded LiDAR wind sensor specialist said the software was designed to enhance the efficiency and output of electricity-generating wind turbines.
It said Windar Nexus would provide local end-users of WindEye Lidar products with a seamless monitoring solution.
One of its key features was its ability to enable monitoring of WindEye Lidar fleets without the necessity for modular connectivity to the centralised Windar Control Centre in Copenhagen.
That, the firm explained, would effectively mitigate any connectivity issues stemming from evolving network and internet security protocols enforced by end-user customers.
The software offered monitoring capabilities to allow users to track system parameters.
Additionally, it continuously analyses data to identify potential optimisations for precise yaw adjustments tailored to each individual wind turbine.
By optimising yaw, Windar Nexus would allow for increased annual power production, further enhancing the efficiency of wind energy generation.
"The initial purpose of developing the Windar Nexus software suite was to reduce potential sales barriers to new end-user customers by eliminating the need for modular connectivity requirements whereby the increasing internet/network security policies are made irrelevant to our product offerings," said chief executive officer Jorgen Korsgaard Jensen.
"And what might be even more important going forward is that, having a local software platform running on individual sites, potentially opens up the promotion of new software modules and solutions whereby Windar can launch new software releases focused on both additional turbine optimization and general turbine monitoring services."
At 1301 GMT, shares in Windar Photonics were flat at 32.5p.
