(Sharecast News) - Waitrose announced on Thursday it is partnering with Just Eat on a multi-year deal to bring rapid deliveries to customers across 229 UK locations in the coming weeks.
The partnership, which is already live in Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Manchester, will give Just Eat customers the ability to get Waitrose groceries within 30 minutes or less.
The collaboration comes just two months after Waitrose announced up 100 new Waitrose convenience stores over the next five years as part of a £1bn investment programme into openings and store improvements.
The upmarket grocer said it has seen average weekly on-demand grocery sales rise by 140% over the first six months of 2024.
"Partnering with Just Eat and stepping up our plans for new shops allows us to reach even more customers who want the same commitment to quality, taste and ethical standards whenever and wherever they want to enjoy great food," said Waitrose's executive director James Bailey.
"As demand for greater convenience has grown, so have expectations of convenience food - and that is a huge opportunity for us."
