(Sharecast News) - The number of job openings in the U.S. was little changed in February from the month before, reflecting no further easing yet in the jobs market.

According to the Department of Labor, in seasonally adjusted terms the number of job openings increased by a scant 0.1% month-on-month to reach 8.756m.

January's tally of job openings had been revised lower from a preliminary estimate of 8.863m to 8.748m.

Hiring on the other hand picked up by 2.1% versus the prior month to reach 5.82m.

The so-called 'quits' rate, which tracks voluntary separations, was unchanged at 2.2%, while total separations grew by 38,000 to 3.484m.
