TechMARK movers: Vectura deal

6th Aug 2010 14:20

GlaxoSmithKline has signed a worldwide non-exclusive deal with Vectura worth £20m in up front and milestone payments. GSK wants to use some of Vectura's dry powder drug formulation patents in its own respiratory products. The initial payment of £10m is due in September. There are also potential annual royalty revenues of up to £13m. Vectura still has plenty of opportunities to generate revenues from its IP because of the non-exclusivity of this deal. Telecoms test equipment supplier Spirent Communications has lost yesterday's share price gain following its interim figures. To put that into perspective, Spirent has risen by two-thirds in the past year. Spirent reported a 37% hike in first half pre-tax profit as demand picked up across its markets and said it is confident of building on momentum going into the second half. Pre-tax profit rose to $48.8m for the six months ended June 2010 compared to $35.5m a year earlier. Revenue increased to $227.2m from $208.7m while order intake rose 24%.Broker Panmure Gordon believes Spirent may buy back an increasing number of shares in the second half.
