Sage boss to up roots

The Sage Group has confirmed that its chief executive, Paul Walker, has announced his intention to stand down after 16 years at the helm of the accountancy software company.Responding to speculation in the press the company said that Walker, who has been with the group for 26 years, will give up the role "in due course" and that the board will work to ensure a seamless transition.A further announcement on the succession will be made at the appropriate time.Press reports state that the company has hired executive search firm Russell Reynold Associates to find a replacement, with the main internal candidates for the role thought to be finance director Paul Harrison and the head of the group's UK and Ireland business, Paul Stobart.
