(Sharecast News) - Electronic and electromechanical components and systems specialist LPA Group announced the appointment of Philo Daniel-Tran as its new chief executive officer on Tuesday.

The AIM-traded firm said Daniel-Tran would join the company as a director in January.

It said she would bring extensive experience from the transport, defence and security sectors, having most recently served as global director of aviation and urban security at Smiths Detection, a division of Smiths Group.

In that role, she focussed on restructuring the aviation subdivision, driving strategic growth, and introducing new technologies.

"We are delighted to announce Philo's appointment as chief executive officer," said chairman Robert Horvath.

"She brings to the role extensive knowledge, skill and experience of our industry from her previous roles, and strong ambition as the group aims to deliver on its long term growth plans.

"I would like to welcome Philo to the group and wish her every success."

Prior to her tenure at Smiths Detection, Daniel-Tran spent 16 years at Thales, where she held senior positions including regional business development, strategy and marketing director for Thales south and southeast Asia, as well as head of transportation strategy, marketing and systems engineering for Thales UK.

She also serves as a transport security advisor to the UK Department for Transport, providing guidance through the Joint Security and Resilience Centre (JSaRC).

She holds a PhD in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from the University of Western Sydney, and a Masters in Programme Management from the University of Adelaide in Australia.

"I am joining LPA Group at a pivotal time as we continue to build on our position as a leader in the design, build and supply of electronic and electro-mechanical components and systems," Philo Daniel commented.

"LPA is a company with huge potential, and I am excited to work closely with my new colleagues and stakeholders to realise this."

At 0820 BST, shares in LPA Group were up 3.91% at 59.75p.
