Galliford Try, the housebuilding and construction group, has been appointed preferred bidder on a £24m project to redevelop Edgbaston International Stadium for Warwickshire County Cricket Club. The group will undertake the design and construction of a new section of the stadium, which will seat 8,250 spectators and replaces the existing section of stadium which had a capacity of just under 5,000. The stadium will be in continuous use throughout the construction process. Work on site is expected to start in March 2010 and completion is expected in July 2011.In a separate statement, Galliford Try said it has also been awarded a framework contract as a Delivery Partner by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), as part of a panel that will be used to develop new affordable and private housing on public sector sites across England.
