Galliford Try wins quartet of regional deals

Galliford Try has won three major construction contracts in the South East of England and one in Manchester worth more than 60 million pounds. The housebuilding and construction group, two weeks after announcing £36.5m of new projects in Manchester, said its Building division had been subcontracted on a mix of residential, office and retail developments.The largest contract is with Muse Developments to build the second phase of the Chatham Place regeneration scheme in the centre of Reading, Buckinghamshire.This development is worth £24m and includes two new apartment blocks, 2055 sq ft ground floor retail space, a garden and other public space improvements. In London, Galliford will work with the London Hostels Association to construct a £13m hostel accommodation for young working people and students in the Paddington area. Also in the capital, the company will build 24,500 square feet of office space at 55 St James's Street to be completed in January 2015. Finally, Galliford Try Building and English Cities Fund, a public-private partnership between MUSE Developments and the Homes and Communities Agency, have come to an agreement for a £13.5m regeneration project of private homes and retail units in Chapel Street, Salford. Chief Executive Greg Fitzgerald was delighted to have won these four contracts just two weeks after its other contract wins in Manchester. "These awards reconfirm that we are securing contracts in line with our strategy across the country." he said. "The South East in particular remains a key market for us and we look forward to working with all our partners going forward to deliver these important schemes for each of them." Shares in Galliford Try were down 1.0% to 976.5p at 08:45 on Tuesday.OH
