FTSE 250 Movers: Supergroup flies into first place

Shares in clothing firm Supergroup raced ahead on Wednesday morning after group revenue shot up 51% in the 26 weeks to 30 October. Sales rose from £90.3m to £136.1m, but the group reported a small decline in underlying profits.Set-top box maker Pace also bounced after the firm announced a new chief executive to take the helm after a difficult year for the company.Pace has appointed Mike Pulli, currently president of Pace Americas, who succeeds Neil Gaydon. The firm said Gaydon, who stepped down after 16 years with Pace, had decided to "take some time off and look for a fresh challenge". Carpetright continued to rise following the firm's half-year results yesterday.Meanwhile, Logica, one of the largest providers of contract computer programmers in Europe, plunged into the bottom spot after announcing that it is to turf more than 1,300 of its employees onto the dole as it responds to an increasing reluctance on the part of its clients to commit to contract renewals.The company, which has seen its share price slump more than 40% in the last six months, warned at the beginning of November of weakening revenues and margins in the third quarter, and the disturbing trend on revenues has accelerated in the fourth quarter. Shares in Centamin Egypt have also fallen despite the majority of shareholders agreeing to a corporate restructure of the gold mining firm and its subsidiaries. A new Jersey-incorporated parent company, Centamin plc, will be put in place after the scheme was approved by 99.97% of the total votes cast on the resolution.
