QinetiQ, the defence, security and aerospace company saw its share price rise strongly after it raised its interim dividend per share to 1.4p from 1.1p, due to its confidence that its Organic-Plus strategy will deliver value to shareholders over the medium term on the back of in-line first half results. Investec helped the shares along after retaining its 'buy' rating on the company. Financial services firm Close Brothers rose after it said it made a positive start to the year, with improved first quarter trading across its main divisions, and it remains confident in the outlook for the current financial year.Housebuilders Bellway and Barratt Developments climbed on the back of the latest UK tax figures which have signalled a housing boom with stamp duty revenues at the same level they were at just before the economic crisis in 2008. Meanwhile, and as on the top tier index, miners were in retreat as investors digested the minutes from the latest Federal Reserve meeting, and a slowdown in Chinese PMI data. Pushing stocks even lower were falling metal prices. Intermediate Capital failed to impress despite posting a leap in half-year profits. Missing some analyst expectations, pre-tax profit for the six-month period almost quadrupled to £157.4m, mostly due to gains on investments. Numis Securities had pencilled in profit of £167m, although it admitted the results were nonetheless strong.FTSE 250 - RisersQinetiQ Group (QQ.) 212.00p +7.78%Telecom Plus (TEP) 1,930.00p +6.93%Perform Group (PER) 439.60p +3.44%National Express Group (NEX) 258.20p +3.40%Bodycote (BOY) 622.00p +3.32%esure Group (ESUR) 245.50p +3.19%Barratt Developments (BDEV) 334.10p +2.64%Close Brothers Group (CBG) 1,277.00p +2.57%Bellway (BWY) 1,445.00p +2.56%NMC Health (NMC) 389.10p +2.39%FTSE 250 - FallersImagination Technologies Group (IMG) 245.60p -6.26%Hochschild Mining (HOC) 127.90p -4.77%African Barrick Gold (ABG) 172.60p -4.64%Polymetal International (POLY) 518.00p -4.25%Evraz (EVR) 109.00p -3.88%Devro (DVO) 297.00p -3.29%Intermediate Capital Group (ICP) 445.70p -3.23%Debenhams (DEB) 93.95p -3.09%Centamin (DI) (CEY) 45.33p -3.00%Bwin.party Digital Entertainment (BPTY) 126.10p -3.00%NR
