Healthcare company BTG was a heavy faller despite saying trading for the four months to January 28th had been in line with expectations. The group was hit by comments from finnCap and N+1 Singer, which both reitered their 'sell' rating on the stock.The group, which develops products targeting critical care, cancer and other disorders, said it remains confident of achieving revenue between £275m to £285m for the financial year ending March 31st 2014.Wealth management firm Brewin Dolphin was also in the red despite a decent quarterly update from the group after Canaccord Genuity lowered its recommendation from 'buy' to 'hold' following the stock's recent run.Meanwhile, Carphone Warehouse shares soared on the news the company has been signed as the 'preferred partner' of Samsung Electronics to operate more than 60 Samsung stand-alone stores across Europe. The new stores, which will be rolled out over a three-month period across seven European markets, will sell Samsung mobile communications products and merge elements of both companies' technology and knowledge. As on the top tier, miners were rising strongly, particularly Lonmin, African Barrick Gold and Polymetal International, driven by positive updates from three of the industry's biggest players. Notably, Evraz bucked the trend, registering significant declines.
