Gold miner Centamin has predicted its 2014 production from the Sukari mine will hit 420,000 ounces, an 18 per cent increase on last year. The expansion project at Sukari has reached the commissioning phase, with throughput expected to steadily increase during the year, enabling it to deliver on its long-term production target of 450-500,000 gold ounces per annum. The company also said that exploration drilling from underground had encountered "significant" mineralisation of 10m at 162g per tonne of gold. Further mining in the area has given Centamin confidence that underground resource and reserve growth will continue, it said. The share price rose almost 1% at the opening bell. NR
