Infrastructure and support services group Carillion has won a contract through its joint venture in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to build a five-star Hard Rock Hotel in Abu Dhabi.The £110m contract, awarded by Aabar Properties, will see Carillion's joint venture Al Futtaim Carillion construct the 378-room building in the UAE capital's Corniche.The hotel, which Carillion says will be the first of its kind in the Middle East, will also feature a number of restaurants, entertainment and meeting facilities, including the world famous Hard Rock Café.Construction is expected to begin this month with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2017.Chief Executive Richard Howson said he was "delighted" to have been selected for the contract, "which reflects our reputation for delivering projects to high standards of quality, safety and reliability".
