Carillion bags Oman contracts

Carillion has won contracts worth more than £100m for construction work and facilities management in Oman.The support services and construction company said the largest of the three construction contracts its Carillion Alawi unit has won is for the Ministry of Transport and Communication, and entails the design and construction of a new air traffic control tower at Muscat International Airport, together with a number of ancillary buildings.Work on delivering these new facilities, which form part of the expansion of Muscat International Airport, will start in November 2010 and is scheduled for completion early in 2015.The other two contracts are a 13-month contract for Sahara Hospitality to extend the permanent accommodation facilities at Petroleum Development Oman's Nim'r oilfield, and a 9-month contract for Khalid Al Zubair for an extension and associated works at the Barr Al Jissah Resort. The facilities management contract is for a three year period and relates to Bank Muscat's new headquarters.
