(Sharecast News) - Vodafone Group announced on Thursday that Aldo Bisio would step down as chief executive officer of Vodafone Italy and as a member of the group executive committee on 15 November.

The FTSE 100 telecoms conglomerate added that Bisio would pursue an external opportunity, but would continue to serve as a non-executive member of the board of Vodafone Italy to oversee the regulatory approval process for the sale of Vodafone Italy to Swisscom.

Effective from 15 November, Sabrina Casalta, the current chief financial officer of Vodafone Italy, would assume the role of interim CEO.

Casalta would lead Vodafone Italy through the completion of its sale to Swisscom.

"I want to thank Aldo for his immense contribution to both our business in Italy, over many years, and the wider Vodafone Group," said Vodafone Group chief executive officer Margherita Della Valle.

"In Italy, despite challenging market conditions, Vodafone has competed successfully under Aldo's leadership and developed a number of innovations adopted in our other markets."

Della Valle added that more recently, Bisio also led the simplification and streamlining of Vodafone's group commercial operations.

"I have greatly enjoyed working with Aldo and would also like to thank him for staying on in Italy to ensure a smooth transition, as we conclude our transaction with Swisscom."

At 1201 BST, shares in Vodafone Group were up 0.34% at 70.88p.
